Wind Turbine Towers and Installation

12 foot diameter wind turbine on 93 foot tilt up tower

Wind turbines need smooth, fast-moving air to live up to their potential. The only place to find that is high in the air, up on a tall tower. But towers are extremely complicated to fabricate, and dangerous to erect, especially if you've never had hands-on experience.

This intensive multi-day hands-on class covers tower types, the theory of tower design, tower foundation design and engineering, rigging, wind turbine installation and balance of system, and culminates with raising and lowering a wind turbine on a tilt-up tower.

  • This class is frequently offered as an optional extension to our intensive 6-day hands-on Wind Turbine Design and Construction class, to install and raise the turbine that was fabricated during class.
  • Students who have fulfilled the prerequisite of that class, Introduction to Wind Power (Wind Power Reality) or have other real-world wind turbine experience, may take this class only and still receive credit.
  • This class is not registered with NABCEP for continuing education CEUs, however a certificate from Buckville Energy will be issued upon successful completion. Please see our Accreditation Page or contact us for more information.
